Yeah but for how long this time? A few hours probably? Give Rand Paul a cookie...

That’s okay. They deserve a couple days off for all the hard work they’ve been...oh wait, sorry. I was thinking of someone else.

Likely until tomorrow morning, when they can make more of a spectacle about it.

Aside from wanting my tax refund when I file it, I’d be happy to see it never reopen.

What’s that now, twice in two months?

I wonder how many they are going for?

Well, well, well....

Our contract was just renewed on Wed (thank god) and now I need to show up to our agency’s headquarters today to get a new ID badge.

Shit.

I hope I don’t get down there and find the badge office closed. Even if it is, will my fed.gov contact that needs to escort me in be there?

I might be back home by 10:00 if I can’t get in. Sucks, since it’ll cost me $16 to get there and back. :(

The government plunged us into historic amounts of debt, so yes, your office should be open.

Trump is all about records... he might have 100 shutdowns throughout the presidency and he will say it was more like 2500

Welcome to the New Normal.™ The biggest problem with politicians in the country, and perhaps the democratic world, is that they try very hard to get elected and then, as soon as they get into office, they begin the process of getting reelected. Nobody has the courage to do what is right because they are afraid the voters will boot them out. I wish they gave the electorate just a little more credit, but then again, we probably don’t deserve it.

That is a depressingly accurate summation.

Finally got to my desk. Took me 15 minutes to get through security in building A because I had a work bag with me that had to go through the xray machine three times because of headhones, then 30 minutes in the badge office only to be told that the laminating machine is broken and I need to return tomorrow to pick up the card.

Then it’s across to the street to my building where I had to go through security all over again, wait for a fed.gov employee to come downstairs and get me.

Monday morning, I’ll need to go through security again and wait for a sponsor in order to get my card at building A. If the machine is still broken then I’ll need to go through security again in building B.

Keep your eyes on the news, I might lose my shit.

Too bad you aren’t visiting the Texas Capitol. If you have a CHL, and are carrying a gun, you don’t have to go through the security line. That makes my head explode.

That’s weird. REALLY weird.

I have to put my pocketknife in the bushes when I forget my badge.
